NPRA or LMRA: who handles a visit visa?
Bahrain’s Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) handles visit visas and entry requirements. Use the official Bahrain eVisa service to check your eligible routes. LMRA is the authority for work permits; a visit visa does not authorize employment.

Which visit visa route should you check?
- Tourism or a short visit: check the official eVisa service for your passport, residence and purpose of travel.
- Family visit: review the NPRA family visit categories. Sponsor details and relationship evidence may be required.
- Business meetings: confirm that the selected visa permits the proposed activity. A business visit must not be treated as authorization to take employment.
- UAE and other GCC citizens: Bahrain International Airport states that GCC citizens do not need an entry visa. GCC residence alone is different from citizenship.

BahrainAgent collects the following documents for its application review:
- Passport copy.
- Passport-size photo.
- Accommodation or hotel booking.
- Return ticket, unless you select optional airline reservation assistance.
- Bank statements covering the last 3 months.
Upload clear PDF, JPG or PNG files, up to 5 MB per file. The photo must be JPG or PNG. Bank statements can be one combined file or three monthly files. The authorities may request additional evidence for your category.
Documents are uploaded after signing in and before Tap payment. Uploads are encrypted and access is restricted. Unpaid uploads are removed after 7 days and paid-application uploads after 90 days; keep your originals.
Optional airline reservation and travel ticket assistance
Airline reservation assistance costs an additional US$25 per applicant. It provides a temporary airline booking for visa application purposes, subject to availability and expiry. Acceptance for your visa application must be checked separately.
The reservation cannot be used to board a flight. If you need an issued ticket that is valid for travel, ask for a separate flight quote. Selecting reservation assistance only removes the return-ticket upload requirement from our website; it does not waive official entry or airline requirements.

Extensions, overstays and employment
Check the expiry and permitted stay on your issued visa. Contact NPRA about extension options before your stay expires. Do not assume a fixed extension period, automatic conversion or a standard overstay charge applies to every category.

Is a Bahrain visit visa issued through LMRA?
Visit visa and entry matters are handled by Bahrain’s Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), including the official eVisa service. LMRA handles work permits. A visit visa does not authorize employment.
What is the difference between a tourist visit and a family visit?
Choose the route that matches your purpose and eligibility. A family visit route may require a qualifying sponsor and proof of relationship. Check the exact NPRA category rather than assuming the documents or conditions are the same as a tourist eVisa.
Can I extend my stay or change to a work permit?
Ask NPRA about extension eligibility before your authorized stay expires. An extension or change of status is not automatic. For employment, check the applicable LMRA work permit process and NPRA requirements before making plans or starting work.
